JROTC Leadership Awards Program

JROTC Awards Chair LCDR Terry Tassin, USN Ret. making a presentation to Alexandra Sanchez of Cortez High School Navy JROTC

The purpose of the MOAA JROTC Medal is to recognize an outstanding cadet who is in his or her next-to-last year in the JROTC program and who has demonstrated exceptional potential for military leadership.  The presentation of the MOAA JROTC medal is one way the Arizona Chapter fosters a positive military recognition among the youth of the community.

To be eligible for an award, a candidate must:

  • Be in the next-to-last year of a JROTC program
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Demonstrate a high degree of loyalty to the unit, school, and our country
  • Demonstrate exceptional potential for military leadership
  • Attend school at one of the schools our MOAA Chapter supports.  For a list of the schools we support, please click on schools supported.

The individual’s unit commander, who coordinates the selection and presentation with our chapter, selects the award recipient.
