President’s Greetings, Goals & Objectives
Greetings
On behalf of the members of the Arizona Chapter, let me thank you for visiting our website. We are proud of the heritage that comes with being the oldest MOAA Chapter in the State of Arizona. We trust that our pride will be evident to you as you review the pages of this website.
Our Chapter leadership is committed to serving the interests of its members by providing opportunities for social interaction, in providing survivor planning information, and in keeping the membership informed of developing legislative issues and actions at both state and national levels.
Noteworthy Chapter initiatives include our national award winning monthly publication – The Sentinel, an active legislative liaison, exceptional JROTC award & scholarship programs, a calendar of interesting and informative social events, and participation in local veteran’s ceremonies and activities.
Chapter Profile
The Arizona Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) was the first Chapter chartered in the State of Arizona. The original Charter was issued by the former The Retired Officers Association (TROA) on 22 October 1956. Our new MOAA Charter was issued on the 1st of May 2003.
Most of our members live in the Phoenix Metro area–Anthem, Carefree, Cave Creek, Chandler, Fountain Hills, Glendale, Mesa, Peoria, Scottsdale, and Phoenix proper. Maricopa County is the second fastest growing county in the U.S. and Phoenix is now the fifth largest city. All you have to do is visit and you will see why! Come visit our great state and our state’s number one MOAA chapter. Please join our vibrant local chapter and add volume to the powerful voice – Join Now!
Chapter social meetings are held monthly as a luncheon format. We conduct business and legislative awareness meetings as called for by the President. These meetings are generally held at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club, 7505 McCormick Parkway, Scottsdale, Arizona. Minutes are published and posted to the Board of Directors Meeting Minutes page shortly after each meeting.
Goals & Objectives
Current objectives of the Chapter are to ensure each social gathering is entertaining and informative. Business meetings are generally planning sessions and Legislative updates. Our goal of having a strong, viable Officer Placement Liaison/Network Representative working with MOAA National’s The Officer Placement Service (TOPS) program is now a reality. This is a major project we give continued strong emphasis. Anyone wishing information on the Phoenix job market should contact our TOPS advisor or any member listed on our Contact Us web page. Our normal club membership maintains at about 200 members.
